I love You 300! The AI revolution is here!
#20 This AI was the reason why Google lost $100 Billion
After a 2-month hiatus, I’m back! My wife and I were blessed with a baby girl 👼🏼 on December 11th, 2022! Those on Substack Chat must have already seen my post on this. Thank you so much for your wishes! It’s been a crazy ride and I decided to take a brief break from writing. During that time we also crossed 300 subscribers! Thank you for your continued love and support! ❤
ChatGPT
Although I was away I’ve been following the tech world closely and the viral AI sensation ChatGPT!! Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you must have already known about this AI. Just to be brief, it’s a natural conversational AI that has precise answers for any question you throw at it, albeit the accuracy sometimes goes out of the window. It took the whole world by storm and so much so that it threatened Google’s monopoly on Internet search which generates over 50% of their revenue. I had been following ChatGPT almost since its inception and I was impressed with its ability to generate complex answers within a few seconds. I believe this marks the beginning of a technological revolution. It took ChatGPT to cross 100 million users in just about 2 months!! For comparison, it took the Telephone 75 years, Netflix 10 years, Twitter 6 years and Facebook 4 years for the same!!
Microsoft made the smart move of buying and integrating it into their search engine “Bing” in an attempt to revive it. The new Bing + AI search is out for limited users for testing and the feedback is overwhelmingly positive. It should roll out to the public in the next couple of months. This led Google to panic and rush the preview of their answer to the ChatGPT “Bard” which failed miserably. In their demo, Bard is shown giving incorrect answers which led the stock price of Google to plummet and lose $100 billion! Given the history of AI technology at Google, they should be able to bounce back and give strong competition to Chat GPT.
Here are some of the cool stuff ChatGPT can do:
You can plan a trip itinerary with this, you can find my experience on this below.
Generate code for your software problem. Yes! ChatGPT will give you a structured code including the comments so that you can easily understand the reason behind each logic. Being a software engineer, I believe this is a godsend!
If you are stuck with an issue in the code and it’s giving you sleepless nights, ChatGPT comes to your rescue! Paste your code in the question prompt and it can identify the mistakes in the code for you and suggest ways to fix them.
You can even write entire SEO-optimised articles through it. It generates some of the most detailed and thorough articles I’ve seen. Will this replace human writers in the future? Do let me know in the comments below.
It can give you content ideas or structure for your videos and articles.
It can even generate scripts for your YouTube videos.
It can answer your queries and hold your hand while learning a new technology or programming language.
It’s so advanced that it even cleared the medicine and law exams. So technically it’s a board-certified lawyer and doctor?? 😮
Recently I used ChatGPT to plan a road trip for me and the response was nothing short of amazing!! Remember, your question prompt needs to be as detailed as possible for it to give the best response.
The question which is on everyone’s mind is, will AI take over human jobs?
No, ChatGPT, as impressive as it is, is not sentient. It can’t fact-check the results it shares. There have been instances where it shared wrong answers with utmost confidence. There are several jobs which require a human touch and AI in its current state will not be able to take over them. What you can do with this is take inspiration to turbo-boost your productivity and creativity. It’s sort of like a mini-assistant or employee to you and you’re the boss! Will AI ever become so advanced that they start thinking like a human with artificial consciousness? That’s a topic for another day!
Fun Tech Fact!
The first-ever computer mouse was made of wood. It was invented in the 1960s by a computer engineer named Doug Engelbart, who wanted to create an easier way to navigate on-screen interfaces. The original prototype was made of wood and had only one button, which was used for selecting items on the screen.
Did you already try ChatGPT? Please do let me know in the comments below. As always, keep smiling, stay safe and take care!
